A caring community working together is a powerful thing.
United Way of North Idaho has been working towards a better life for you, your family, and your business since 1957. Together we can unite action and achieve results like no other organization can.
There are many ways to give back, but the easiest way to support UWNI financially is a recurring gift set up through our web site or your workplace if they participate in United Way Workplace Campaigns. Click here to donate now.
United Way is a smart investment. Starting with conversations to understand the greatest needs, we then work with nonprofit collaborations to advance education, financial stability, and health. Please join us as we improve lives by uniting the caring power of our community. Your generous donation stays local to create long-term solutions in a network of people, businesses, schools, local government, and nonprofit agencies.
Volunteering with UWNI.
There are many opportunities to volunteer with United Way of North Idaho and our partner agencies. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
Volunteer Leadership
Board of Directors. The United Way of North Idaho Board of Directors recruits and selects individuals based on specific requirements. If you are interested in serving on the UWNI Board of Directors, we encourage you to reach out to a current board member.
Resource Development Committee. Help UWNI grow vital resources needed to fight for the health, education, and financial stability of ALICE families in North Idaho. Fundraising is done through workplace campaigns, individual project fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship, and events.
Community Impact Councils. Since 1957, our Community Impact Councils have helped the community understand unmet needs and evaluate funding requests. For more than 60 years our Impact Councils are still at the heart of our understanding and focus of the work we do. There are three impact councils: Education Financial Stability, and Health.
If you are interested in volunteering on our Resource Development Committee or Community Impact Council, please let us know. Thanks!
Volunteer Opportunities
READY! for Kindergarten volunteers. Help parents succeed in their role as a child's first teacher! Volunteers will prepare classrooms, greet families, distribute workshop materials, and support workshop facilitators in approximately 2-hour increments.
READY! programs are typically held three times per school year in partnership with the Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, and Lakeland School Districts. Due to the unknown circumstances to the opening of schools, we are uncertain what these classes will look like for the 2020-2021 school year. In the meantime, please follow our North Idaho Early Learning Collaborative for great resources and activities to help prepare your little ones for school.
